SAFETY – CONFORMS WITH FUTURE REGULATORY CHANGES
Safety in general and especially firefighter safety is an increasingly stringent requirement for modern PV power systems. The Optistring solution with module level electronics can automatically detect power wire failure and shut off electrical output from the panels. Shut off can also be manually controlled to increase safety during maintenance work or repairs. As the power is distributed in form of alternating current no extra arc detection is required.
CONVERSION EFFICIENCY – INCREASES POWER OUTPUT
The 99% efficiency of the Optistring system further improves efficient housekeeping of the precious power output from PV panels. Only one percent is lost from the conversion of the power on its way from the panel to the grid.
OPTIMIZATION – INCREASES POWER OUTPUT
The individual MPPT optimization makes the most of every PV module in the system, independent of any power mismatch. Both from external site conditions such as for instance different mounting angles or partial shading, as well as from module differences and ageing. It also provides the possibility to use PV modules with different output power characteristics, which means that matching and sorting of panels becomes obsolete.
SIMPLIFIED INSTALLATION – ACCELERATES DEPLOYMENT TIME, REDUCES COST
The individual MPPT of the Optistring inverter provides the installer more freedom in the planning of a PV system. Partial shading and different mounting angles do not have an impact on neighboring modules in an array. This makes it possible and more profitable to fully utilize the climate shells of buildings in areas where shading might occur, for example in urban environments. The interconnection between panels is simplified and based on AC wiring which renders additional components such as DC breakers obsolete, further reducing overall system cost.
INDIVIDUAL MONITORING – IMPROVES AVAILABILITY AND ROI
The system offers individual monitoring of the panels in the installation. This provides the ability to continuously monitor how each of the individual modules performs. Failures, performance degradation or dirt covering the panels can be immediately detected and resolved, which maximizes overall return on investment of the system.
